【摘要】:TheeffectsofVOCsourcesontheindoorairqualityinbuildingshavenotbeenwellestablished.Onebasicrequirementthathasemergedfromindoorairqualitystudiesistheneedforwell-characterizedtestdataontheemissionfactorsofVOCsfrombuildingmaterials.Standardtestmethodandprocedurearearequirementforthecomparisonofemissionfactordatafromdifferentproducts.ThispracticedescribesaprocedureforusingasmallenvironmentaltestchambertodeterminetheemissionfactorsofVOCsfromwood-basedpanelsoveraspecifiedperiodoftime.Apre-screeninganalysisprocedureisalsoprovidedtoidentifytheVOCsemittedfromtheproducts,todeterminetheappropriateGC/MSorGC/FIDanalyticalprocedure,andtoestimaterequiredsamplingvolumeforthesubsequentenvironmentalchambertesting.TestresultsobtainedusingthispracticeprovideabasisforcomparingtheVOCemissioncharacteristicsofdifferentwood-basedpanelproducts.TheemissiondatacanbeusedtoinformmanufacturersoftheVOCemissionsfromtheirproducts.ThedatacanalsobeusedtoidentifybuildingmaterialswithreducedVOCemissionsoverthetimeintervalofthetest.Whileemissionfactorsdeterminedbyusingthispracticecanbeusedtocomparedifferentproducts,theconcentrationsmeasuredinthechambershallnotbeconsideredastheresultantconcentrationsinanactualindoorenvironment.1.1Thepracticemeasuresthevolatileorganiccompounds(VOC),excludingformaldehyde,emittedfrommanufacturedwood-basedpanels.Apre-screeninganalysisisusedtoidentifytheVOCsemittedfromthepanel.Emissionfactors(thatis,emissionratesperunitsurfacearea)fortheVOCsofinterestarethendeterminedbymeasuringtheconcentrationsinasmallenvironmentaltestchambercontainingaspecimen.Thetestchamberisventilatedataconstantairchangerateunderthestandardenvironmentalconditions.Forformaldehydedetermination,seeTestMethodD6007.1.2ThispracticedescribesatestmethodthatisspecifictothemeasurementofVOCemissionsfromnewlymanufacturedindividualwood-basedpanels,suchasparticleboard,plywood,andorientedstrandboard(OSB),forthepurposeofcomparingtheemissioncharacteristicsofdifferentproductsunderthestandardtestcondition.Forgeneralguidanceonconductingsmallenvironmentalchambertests,seeGuideD5116.1.3VOCconcentrationsintheenvironmentaltestchamberaredeterminedbyadsorptiononanappropriatesingleadsorbenttubeormulti-adsorbenttube,followedbythermaldesorptionandcombinedgaschromatograph/massspectrometry(GC/MS)orgaschromatograph/flameionizationdetection(GC/FID).TheairsamplingprocedureandtheanalyticalmethodrecommendedinthispracticearegenerallyvalidfortheidentificationandquantificationofVOCswithsaturationvaporpressurebetween500and0.01kPaat25176;C,dependingontheselectionofadsorbent(s).Note18212;VOCsbeingcapturedbyanadsorbenttubedependontheadsorbent(s)andsamplingprocedureselected(seePracticeD6196).Theusershouldhaveathoroughunderstandingofthelimitationsofeachadsorbentused.1.4Theemissionfactorsdeterminedusingtheaboveproceduredescribetheemissioncharacteristicsofthespecimenunderthestandardtestcondition.Thesedatacanbeuseddirectlytocomparetheemissioncharacteristicsofdifferentproductsandtoestimatetheemissionratesuptoonemonthaftertheproduction.Theyshallnotbeusedtopredicttheemissionratesoverlongerperiodsoftime(thatis,morethanonemonth)orunderdifferentenvironmentalconditions.1.5Emissiondatafromchambertestscanbeusedforpredictingtheimpactofwood-basedpanelsontheVOCconcentrationsinbuildingsbyusinganappropriateindoorairqualitymodel,whichisbeyondthesco......
